Description: The Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting medical staff in the provision of safe and efficient delivery of medical services. Under the general supervision of medical staff, the Medical Assistant performs routine administrative and clinical duties. This includes scheduling medical appointments, greeting participants, and filing medical records. The Medical Assistant takes and records vital signs, prepares exam rooms, and maintains equipment and supplies. The Medical Assistant works collaboratively with all team members to promote the mission of the organization. Duties and responsibilities include preparing participants for appointments, including setting up exam rooms and checking participants in and out. The Medical Assistant performs required pre-exam physical tests, measuring and documenting vital signs as ordered by a physician. They assist the physician during the examination as appropriate and perform general medical procedures as directed. Laboratory specimens are collected and prepared as ordered, and routine sterilization procedures for medical equipment are conducted. The Medical Assistant triages and addresses unscheduled requests for physician visits. They should proactively review schedules to ensure all available appointments are filled. Maintaining clinic logs, ensuring exam rooms are properly stocked and sanitized is essential. Quality control checks on clinic lab equipment are performed and documented. The Medical Assistant conducts relevant teaching to participants and performs COVID testing as needed. Effective communication and organizational skills are necessary for success in this position. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment is essential. Experience working with diverse backgrounds and cultures is required. Commitment to providing care and support to vulnerable populations is expected.
