Shift: 8:00am - 4:30pm Description: The Medical Support Assistant (MSA) provides critical support work related to the care and treatment of Veterans. This role is responsible for the performance and coordination of appointment scheduling, tracking, and patient communication within the client. All positions are 100% remote but must reside within 50 miles of the commuting area of the facility. Key Responsibilities: Perform appointment scheduling, tracking, and pre/post-appointment contacts in accordance with VHA Directive 1230. Coordinate and authorize Veteran care with community providers. Process community care consults via HealthShare Referral Manager (HSRM) and Provider Profile Management System (PPMS). Validate and update patient demographic and insurance information (ICB). Screen and receive phone calls in a courteous and timely manner. Ensure all necessary health/administrative information is integrated into VistA and CPRS. Update no-shows in EHR scheduling software no later than the end of each clinic business day. Required Qualifications: Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Certification: None required for entry; must complete mandatory VA National Standardized Onboarding Scheduler Training after award. Licensure: None required. Experience: Minimum 6 months of customer service experience. Skills: Basic computer skills, basic medical terminology knowledge, and ability to type at least 50 WPM. Preferred Qualifications: Prior VA experience or knowledge of VistA/CPRS. Experience in a federal healthcare setting.
