Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry Overflow position requiring at least 18 months of Med/Tele experience and the ability to float across a multi-facility regional health system.

Details

  • Work in a Medical/Surgical Overflow unit at a 457-bed Level 3 Trauma hospital and Stroke Center of Excellence
  • Patient population includes chronic disease, CHF, mental health, addiction services (IV antibiotics), COPD, diabetes, wound care, and geriatric patients
  • Patient ratios are 1:4–6 (acuity dependent), with potential surge ratios of 1:7–8
  • EMR is Epic
  • 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM–7:00 AM, 36 hours per week
  • Every other weekend rotation required
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Floating is required within Region 1 (Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, and Central Division facilities) per regional needs and within scope of practice — candidates who are not agreeable to floating should not apply

Requirements

  • Active NC RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
  • Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
  • Minimum 18 months of Med/Surg Telemetry RN experience, with most recent experience within the last year
  • Proficiency in cardiac rhythm interpretation, non-titrating cardiac drips (e.g., Cardizem, Amiodarone), care of patients with tubes and drains, IV starts, blood product administration, and wound care
  • Candidate's permanent address must be located more than 50 miles from the facility (local candidates are not accepted)
  • At least 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
  • Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Department is supported by a Nurse Manager, Administrative Clinical Supervisor, Clinical Supervisor, staff RNs, CNAs, a Clinical Mentor, Rapid Response RN, and a House Supervisor
  • Departmental equipment includes scales, GBS machine, transfer device, vein finder, EKG, crash cart, language interpreter, telemedicine cart, and doppler
  • Orientation includes general nursing orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation
  • Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays
  • Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays
  • Schedules are issued on a 6-week cycle
  • Scrub color is navy blue
  • Free parking is available on site
  • Must have been separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year following a permanent position before being eligible
