Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring NC or compact RN licensure, prior charge experience, and travel experience.

Details

  • Work in the Med/Surg Tele unit of a hospital environment
  • Primarily Med/Surg patient population on a telemetry-capable unit
  • 1:6 patient ratios
  • Night shift schedule: 3x12s, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
  • Every other weekend (EOW) required
  • Holiday rotation required
  • May be required to work Charge RN shifts as needed
  • Floating required as needed across any Cone Health campus
  • Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

  • Active RN license (NC or Compact) currently in hand
  • Current certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS); NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Previous Charge RN experience required
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Epic EMR experience preferred
  • Skills required include respiratory care, BiPAP/CPAP management, nasal cannula, oral suctioning, IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, peripheral line care/management, starting and maintaining IVs, colostomy/ileostomy care, feeding tube management, Heparin/Insulin/PCA medication administration, isolation precautions/PPE, wound care/wound vac, IV insulin protocols, and dysrhythmia interpretation/EKG
  • Experience with use of Rapid Response/Code teams required
  • Must pass a Pass/Fail EKG exam during onboarding (two attempts allowed)
  • Current driver's license required to verify address

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive Med/Surg nursing care with telemetry monitoring capabilities
  • Utilize Rapid Response and Code team protocols as needed
  • Assignment length is 26 weeks with no option for a shorter contract
  • Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility as local candidates are not accepted at this rate
  • Zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences
  • RTO must be submitted with initial application; no post-submission RTO requests accepted
  • First-time travelers considered only if they meet the required travel experience qualification
