Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for an 8-week day shift assignment requiring AL or compact RN licensure and current BLS certification.

Details

• Work on a Medical Surgical unit within a hospital setting
• Patient population includes adults and geriatrics
• Nurse to patient ratio of 1:6
• Day shift schedule with 4x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, with option for 3x12s
• Every other weekend (EOW) rotation required
• Floating required as needed
• Charge nurse duties may be required occasionally
• Weekend block scheduling may be considered
• 30-minute uninterrupted lunch break required with no skipped meals

Requirements

• Active AL or compact RN license required
• Current BLS certification via AHA required
• NIHSS certification preferred
• Fit test required
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Level II Trauma experience preferred
• Travel nursing experience preferred
• Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, peripheral line care, and PICC line management
• Skilled in starting and maintaining IVs
• Experience with colostomy/ileostomy management and feeding tube care
• Experience administering Heparin, insulin, and PCA medications
• Proficient in isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac management
• Experience with nasal cannula and oxygen administration
• Experience with surgical drain management
• Paragon charting system experience preferred
• Any charting system experience required

Additional Information

• Provide direct medical-surgical nursing care to adult and geriatric patients
• Perform wound care, IV therapy, and management of various lines and drains as part of daily duties
• May be required to assume charge nurse responsibilities as needed
• Local candidates accepted within a 60-mile radius at a reduced rate
• Requested time off must not exceed 7 days for the duration of the assignment
• Prior permanent employees of the facility are not eligible for this travel position
• Candidates with a pending license may still be considered for this position
