Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg unit requiring a WV or compact RN license, NIHSS certification, and prior med/surg experience.

Details

• Acute care Med/Surg unit (6N Overflow) with 30 beds
• Patient ratios of 1:6 to 1:7
• Common diagnoses include CHF, COPD, cellulitis, R/O, chole, appe, pneumonia, urosepsis, and AKI
• Uses EPIC EMR
• Day shift, 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
• Rotating weekends (approximately half of total weekends) and holidays as needed
• One charge RN staffed on the floor in addition to assignment
• PCTs available on the unit for support
• RNs required to titrate heparin drips based on aPTT results
• Telemetry monitoring available, watched remotely by monitor techs
• Intermittent BIPAP used, no ventilator management required
• Floating required as needed based on census, with external travelers floated first
• No standby or on-call requirements

Requirements

• Active WV or compact RN license required
• Current BLS (AHA) and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• BSN not required for this position
• Unexpired driver's license required for consideration
• Any licensing history issues must be disclosed at time of consideration

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care for a variety of medical-surgical diagnoses in an acute care setting
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to qualify as a traveler
• Local candidates are not accepted for this position
• Travelers who previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a 2-year break before reapplying
• Travelers may not work within the WVU system for longer than one cumulative year without taking a required 2-year break
• Cancellation policy allows for up to 2 shifts per 13-week contract
• Scheduling is transitioning to the Qgenda system
• First-time travelers may be considered for this position
