Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Neuro Med/Surg unit in Nashville, TN, requiring at least 2 years of Med/Surg experience and a TN or compact RN license for night shift coverage.

Details

• Position is located on a 20-bed Neuro Med/Surg unit (3rd Floor) within a hospital setting in Nashville, TN
• Patient population includes neurological and general medical/surgical cases
• Patient ratio is 6:1
• Tech support is available on both day and night shifts; unit secretary available 7a–7p
• Equipment used includes IV pumps, telemetry monitors, SCDs, continuous pulse ox machines, feeding pumps, PCA pumps, EKG machines, bladder scanners, and iMobile communication technology
• Documentation is completed in Meditech
• Shift is nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, three 12-hour shifts per week
• Every other weekend required (2 weekends / 4 shifts per 4-week schedule)
• Contract travelers are first to float, with rotation among contract staff when multiple are scheduled
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active RN license — TN or compact license required
• Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start)
• Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg RN experience
• Proficiency in IV insertion, basic wound care, and maintenance of surgical drains, nasogastric tubes, and chest tubes
• Ability to prioritize care and multitask in a fast-paced environment
• US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
• One professional reference required
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
• No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months

Additional Information

• The facility is an ACS Verified Level II Trauma Center, Comprehensive Stroke Center, and Certified Chest Pain Center
• Candidates are expected to deliver attentive, compassionate care, conduct bedside shift reports, and actively involve patients and family members in the plan of care
• Navy scrubs (tops and bottoms) are required
