Job Title: Mammography Technologist Profession: Mammography Technologist Specialty: - Duration: 18 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 40 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years prior experience as a Licensed Mammography Technologist License: Radiologic technologist licensure, active Diagnostic Radiography License Certifications: Mammography-specific certification, ARRT Must-Have: Screening mammography, Diagnostic mammography, Breast positioning, Patient education, Advanced Breast Imaging Description: The Mammography Technologist is responsible for performing mammography examinations following ACR requirements. This position assists with breast ultrasound, stereotactic biopsy, breast localization, and other radiologic guided procedures. Performs diagnostic and screening mammographic examinations on adult, adolescent, and geriatric patients in an expedient and professional manner. Performs mammographic imaging for breast needle localization procedures and stereotactic procedures, including set up and clean up. Assists in procedures using ultrasound guidance. Provides immobilization devices, selects proper technical factors based on individual patient needs, and operates equipment for specific procedures. Identifies patient films with the correct name, x-ray number, and correctly marks films as to the side of the patient and initials all films. Develops exposed x-ray films using processing methods. Completes patient requisitions with technologist initials, date number, and size of films. Assists with quality control procedures and documentation of various tests and analyses. Assists in patient education including pre and post procedure instructions. Prepares cases to be imaged including charts and films. Assists with compiling statistics for patient follow-ups, tracking of breast localizations, and ultrasound examinations. Documents procedures regarding quality control and quality assurance for mammography in compliance with applicable regulations. Documents pertinent information regarding patients in their records. Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies and delivers care specific to those needs. Communicates with patients, parents, and/or primary caregivers at their level. Performs other duties and projects as assigned. Adheres to organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
