Job Summary: The Mammography Technologist is responsible for performing mammography examinations following ACR requirements. -This position assists with breast ultrasound, stereotactic biopsy, breast localization and other radiologic guided procedures performed within the Breast Center. -Performs diagnostic and screening mammographic examinations on adult, adolescent, and geriatric patients in an expedient and professional manner. -Performs mammographic imaging for breast needle localization procedures and stereotactic procedures inclusive of set up and clean up. -Assists in procedures using ultrasound guidance. -Provides immobilization devices, select proper technical factors based on individual patient needs and selects and operates equipment for specific procedures. -Identifies patient s films with the correct name, x-ray number, and correctly marks film as to side of the patient and initials all films. -Develops exposed x-ray film by using processing methods. -Completes patient requisitions with technologist s initials, date number, and size of films. -Assists with quality control procedures and documenting of: phantom image, darkroom fog test, screen-film contact test, repeat analysis, fixer retention analysis, screen cleanliness, compression test, visual machine checks, processor quality control, view box and reviewing conditions and darkroom cleanliness, as delegated by Chief Mammography Technologist. -Assists in BSE instruction and other patient education to include pre and post procedure instructions. -Prepares cases to be imaged including chart and films. -Assists with compiling statistics for: patient follow-ups, tracking of breast localizations, patient needing biopsies, and ultrasound examinations, follow-up on positive biopsy reports. -Documents procedures regarding quality control and quality assurance for mammography in compliance with ACR, MQSA, NJ State and FDA. -Documents in the Breast Center chart any pertinent information regarding patients. -Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies and delivers care that is specific to those needs (i.e., age, culture, language, hearing and/or visually impaired, etc.). -This process includes communicating with the patient, parent, and/or primary caregiver(s) at their level (developmental/age, educational, literacy, etc.). -Other duties and/or projects as assigned. -Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior. null Schedule Title (including department IE ICU, MS, etc) Mammography Technologist CWR Location/Facility Name PMC- Palisades Medical Center, 7650 River Road North Bergen, NJ, 07047, US Shift Day shift, training will be 7AM-3:30PM, 9AM-5PM Hours Per Week 40 hrs a week position Weekend Requirement Not required Holiday Requirement Not required On-Call Requirement Not required Float Requirement Not required Required Years of Experience 2 years of hands-on experience with Breast Preferred Years of Experience 5 years of experience is good to have Required Hard Skills Screening mammography Diagnostic mammography Breast positioning Breast compression techniques Patient education Breast imaging protocols Advanced Breast Imaging Breast ultrasound assistance Stereotactic breast biopsy Tomosynthesis (3D mammography) Needle localization Breast MRI coordination Dexa scanning (sometimes) Required Soft Skills Screening Breasts Required Licenses & Certifications Radiologic technologist licensure Mammography-specific certification Breast imaging competencies ARRT, RT Would you prefer to review resumes and interview candidates?
