Job Mammographer I performs specialized breast imaging services on OU Health patients to aid Providers in the diagnosis, care, treatment and surveillance of breast conditions, defects and/or diseases. This position is intended for those who are gaining experience as a Mammographer or experienced imaging professionals who wish to begin a career in Mammography. Work is typically performed in outpatient environments across OU Health locations. Job Responsibilities:-Under general supervision, performs diagnostic imaging on patients as ordered by a care provider.-Ensures testing is performed safely and with the highest quality standards, maintaining a consistent focus on patient-centric care.-Prepares patients for procedures and reviews clinical history to align with provider-ordered tests.-Responds to inquiries from patients and family members, provides clear information regarding diagnostic testing and expected result timelines.-Collaborate with team members across OU Health including Providers to provide exceptional patient care.-Utilizes a variety of highly specialized mammography equipment and techniques to perform diagnostic procedures in accordance with established scope of practice guidelines.-Conducts post-testing quality reviews to confirm that all required elements are completed, documented and aligned with departmental and accreditation standards.-Transfers images and data to the appropriate electronic health system, enters technical data/findings and prepares study for reporting by physician.-Performs quality control checks, cleaning, disinfecting and other equipment maintenance tasks per manufacturer instructions for use and other regulatory guidelines.-Ensures that technical quality of testing meets established protocols and applicable accreditation standards.-Assists with quality assurance and performance improvement tasks as requested.-May support OU Health's academic partnerships by actively engaging in teaching of students in the radiologic program.-May serve as a departmental preceptor to provide instruction and mentorship to new or less experienced team members.-Assists with onboarding of new team members.-Supports inventory tasks as needed to help ensure supplies are available.-Performs other duties as assigned. Schedule be a registered Mammography Tech with a minimum of three years of experience. The position supports OUH's mobile mammography coach, which travels weekly to sites across Oklahoma. Hotel and food expenses are covered during travel weeks. Skills: Required Skills & Experience:-Skill in applying principles of mammography and/or radiologic technology, medical imaging, medical terminology, positioning of patients, and medical ethics.-Demonstrates foundational knowledge of normal and abnormal anatomy and physiology, basic mammography principles and/or radiologic technology, medical imaging, medical terminology.-Applies core mammography theory, practice and techniques to perform examinations and complete basic post-processing analysis, and documentation with general supervision or assistance.-Demonstrates clear and respectful verbal and written communication skills to exchange basic information with patients, families, and team members.-Ability to prioritize and complete assigned clinical and non clinical work tasks with guidance and direction, progressively developing independence in managing routine responsibilities.-Ability to manage multiple tasks and remain composed in stressful situations with guidance and support, progressively developing effective coping and prioritization skills.
