These services are concerned with the development and integration of behavioral and biomedical science knowledge and techniques relevant to health and illness. The application of this knowledge and these techniques focuses on prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation. Within the scope of practice, the provider performs psychosocial interventions with clients. Individual, family, or group interventions include counseling, testing, and education of the client. Intervention goals and objectives are developed to provide education and resolve the client's problems in functioning. The provider participates in establishing, implementing, and evaluating treatment system goals and objectives. Clients and their families are interviewed to establish case goals and objectives. Assessments are conducted to determine specific intervention techniques and monitor clients' responses to treatment systems. Feedback is provided on the effectiveness of prescribed treatment. The provider evaluates lower-level behavioral healthcare provider cases and clients' progress resulting from treatment plans. Necessary data documents are maintained to satisfy requirements of federal, state, and local agencies. Data prepared includes social histories, admission and aftercare summaries, and court documents. The provider serves on treatment teams and program development teams. Attendance at training meetings, intradepartmental meetings, and court hearings is required. The provider establishes and maintains working relationships with facilities, agencies, and support services for referrals and follow-up services. Knowledge of departmental regulations, policies, and procedures is essential. Counseling on sensitive matters is a key responsibility. The provider must be able to proofread technical materials, recognize errors, and make corrections. Recognizing unusual or threatening conditions and taking appropriate actions is necessary. Understanding an abstract field of study and problem-solving in situations with many variables are important. The application of social work theories, principles, and techniques is crucial.
