Job Summary:
Labor and Delivery Nurse located in Santa Cruz, California. This position involves providing specialized care in a high-risk obstetric setting, supporting both mother and infant health needs. The role includes working during night shifts, with an emphasis on high-risk obstetric patient management, neonatal care, and collaboration with the healthcare team to ensure optimal outcomes.

Job Details:

  • Shift: Nights, 12-hour shifts, from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., with every other weekend work required.
  • Required Qualifications: Certifications including Advanced Fetal Monitoring, Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Basic Life Support (BLS), and COVID-19 vaccination. A minimum of 2 years of experience in labor and delivery, with valid licensure and ability to submit license to the organization.
  • Preferred Qualifications: OB Tech experience, skin color scrubs as provided by hospital.
  • Float: Float rotation may be required.
  • Additional Information: This unit handles high-risk pregnancies, including PIH, preeclampsia, addiction, preterm labor, and magnesium sulfate administration. It boasts a level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) on site, supports lactation consultants, and maintains a baby-friendly environment. The facility utilizes Cerner and Fetal Link Electronic Medical Record systems, with a dedicated charge nurse who does not take patients. Shifts are specific to a designated mother-baby floor, and orientation includes three unit shifts. The hospital can cancel up to four shifts per 13-week assignment or three shifts for shorter durations.
