This Labor and Delivery (L&D) registered nurse position is located in Alexandria, Louisiana. The role involves providing patient care on a busy unit responsible for childbirth and postpartum management. The position requires a dedicated healthcare professional to support the units operations during the night shift, ensuring safe and compassionate care for obstetric patients.

• Required Qualifications: Valid BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certifications; Nurse Registration Practice (NRP); graduation from an accredited nursing program; overall 1 year of nursing experience; location in the United States; and a minimum of 0 years of professional experience.
• Unit Information: The unit features 2 triage rooms, 10 labor rooms, and 2 operating rooms. Staffing includes 16 PRN, 22 full-time, and 17 contract/title staff, with a blend of day and night shift personnel. Patient ratios range from 1:1 to 2:1, based on acuity. Equipment used includes fetal monitors, intrauterine pressure catheters (IUPC), Fetal Scalp Electrodes (FSE), fluid warmers, IV pumps, and epidural pumps. The electronic medical records system is CPN and Meditech.
• Typical Procedures: Vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, amniocentesis, amnioinfusions, IUPC/FSE placement.
• Personality Fit: Organized, excellent time management skills, empathic, caring, and compassionate.
• Additional Information: The unit operates on a closed model with postpartum coverage. Rotation includes weekends and on-call shifts, alternating every other weekend. The position may require circulator call duties.
