Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position at a Massachusetts hospital, requiring AWHONN Intermediate certification and Epic EMR experience with night shift availability.

Details

  • Labor & Delivery unit at an acute care hospital in Worcester, MA
  • Assignment as part of a maternity float pool, requiring the ability to work both L&D and Postpartum (PP) units
  • Night shift: 4x12-hour shifts (18:45–07:15); 3x12-hour schedules may also be considered
  • 36 hours per week with every other weekend and holiday coverage required
  • Patient population includes antepartum, laboring, postpartum, and high-risk obstetric patients
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • 13- or 26-week contract options available

Requirements

  • Active MA RN license required; a pending MA license is acceptable at time of submission, but the candidate must apply for the MA conditional (temp) license within 48 hours of accepting an offer
  • Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate (or above)
  • Minimum 1–2 years of L&D experience with travel experience; 3 years strongly preferred
  • First-time travelers from a teaching hospital background may be considered
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Proficiency in L&D skills including: IV therapy, administration of blood products, fetal monitoring (external and internal), labor management, C-section circulation, amnioinfusion, hemorrhage/shock response, and postpartum care
  • Medication administration experience required, including Magnesium Sulfate, Pitocin, antihypertensives, antiseizure agents, prostaglandins, and terbutaline
  • 2 professional references required for consideration, with at least one from a Nurse Manager or higher
  • Candidates must reside more than 200 miles from the facility to qualify; local candidates within the area are accepted at the same rate

Additional Information

  • This is a union facility; no special scheduling accommodations can be made, and candidates must be available to work all 7 days of the week
  • Orientation includes two pass/fail exams: a medication exam and a telemetry/EKG exam — each allows only one attempt; failure results in immediate contract cancellation
  • Study materials are provided during the compliance process and facility-directed in-services (FDIs) to help candidates prepare for orientation exams
  • Candidates who have previously worked within this health system must have a minimum 12-month separation before being considered
  • Up to 14 days of RTO may be submitted for review; no RTO is permitted during the first week of the assignment
  • Candidates must have a clean nursing license with no prior disciplinary actions
