Description

American Traveler is hiring a Labor and Delivery RN with 2+ years of high-risk L&D experience for a night shift assignment requiring WA or compact RN licensure.

Details

  • Work in the Labor and Delivery unit of a short-term acute care, Level II Trauma Center and Level II Pediatric Trauma teaching hospital
  • Care for high-risk L&D, antepartum, pre-eclampsia, diabetes, multiples, and VBAC/TOLAC patient populations
  • Manage active labor including induction/augmentation and maternal emergencies
  • Night shift schedule, 4x12 hours (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
  • Some weekend shifts required
  • Floating required between units and sister facilities
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Labor patient ratio of 1:2 and Antepartum ratio of 1:3
  • Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

  • Active WA or compact RN license required in hand at submission
  • Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
  • Required certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate, BLS, FHM, and NRP
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Experience with high-risk delivery, C-section circulating/scrubbing, and vaginal delivery assistance
  • Experience managing hemorrhage/shock and forceps/vacuum extraction
  • Skilled in fetal monitoring including internal and external EFM, IUPC placement, and abnormal fetal heart rate recognition
  • Experience with high-risk medication administration including Magnesium Sulfate, Pitocin, and insulin drips
  • Able to function independently in L&D without prior travel experience
  • Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive care across antepartum, labor, delivery, and postpartum stages
  • Assist with high-risk deliveries, C-sections, and management of maternal emergencies such as pre-eclampsia and postpartum hemorrhage
  • Support neonatal care in the delivery room including APGAR scoring and newborn resuscitation
  • Provide patient education including breastfeeding/lactation support and discharge teaching
  • Teaching hospital environment offering exposure to complex and high-acuity cases
  • Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
  • Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to qualify for travel rate; local candidates accepted at a lower rate
  • Former permanent employees may return as travelers after a 3-month waiting period, provided they reside outside the 50-mile radius
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply given prior L&D experience
  • RTO requests should be submitted upfront and kept minimal to avoid delays in the offer process
