Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring a minimum of 2 years of L&D experience, Epic proficiency, and night shift availability on a 4x12 schedule.

Details

  • Hospital-based Labor & Delivery unit with 8 labor rooms and 4 triage rooms
  • Patient population includes labor, preterm labor, high-risk deliveries, GYN surgeries, low-risk antepartum, couplet care, and transition nursery
  • Staffing ratio of 1:1–3
  • Night shift, 4x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
  • Floating required to Post-Partum and NICU based on skill set; travelers may also be expected to float between sister facilities within the state
  • Special procedures include administration of blood/blood products, cardioversion/defibrillation, cooling/warming blankets, epidural pumps, PCA pumps, syringe pumps, wound vac, and drip medications including heparin, insulin, and magnesium sulfate
  • EMR: Epic (required)
  • Facility volume is approximately 200–300 births per month
  • 26-week contract

Requirements

  • Active WA state RN license or valid compact RN license currently in hand
  • Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery RN experience required
  • Prior travel experience required; first-time travelers are not accepted
  • Required certifications: BLS, FHM, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate; ACLS preferred
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, administration of blood and blood products, central line maintenance (CVC/PICC), anticoagulation therapy, insulin drips, magnesium sulfate therapy, epidural anesthesia/PCA management, fetal monitoring, IUPC placement and calibration, C-section circulation and recovery, sterile vaginal exams, and OB triage
  • 2 supervisory references covering at least 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty are required for consideration
  • SSN and DOB required for consideration
  • Candidates must disclose any prior work history at a Providence facility (permanent, travel, or per-diem) including location and dates

Additional Information

  • Responsibilities include labor and delivery management, attending all deliveries including high-risk, pre-op and post-op care, scrub and circulator roles for C-sections, low-risk antepartum care, and postpartum care
  • Refusal to float may result in termination of the assignment
  • Former permanent staff of any Providence Swedish facility must be separated for at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
  • Former permanent staff of other (non-Swedish) Providence facilities are eligible after a 3-month separation
  • Local candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are accepted at the same bill rate
  • Must commit to working 3 of the following 5 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day
  • All RTO and scheduling requests must be submitted upfront; post-offer RTO requests may not be approved
  • Pre-start orientation modules are required and completed prior to the start date
