Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor and Delivery position requiring high-risk L&D experience, circulating and newborn care skills, and a WA or compact RN license.
Details
- high high-volume Labor and Delivery unit within a hospital setting
- Unit features 31 rooms/beds with 4 ORs and an average daily census of 15 patients
- Facility averages 500-600 deliveries per month
- Patient population includes midwifery clients, private OB patients, adult recovery services supporting substance recovery, and community care clinic patients
- Uses Epic EMR and electronic fetal monitoring equipment
- Night shift schedule, 4x12 hours (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Schedule posted every 6 weeks based on unit needs
- Required to work every other weekend and holidays as needed, with commitment to work 3 of 5 major holidays
- Floating required to sister facilities that provide Mother/Baby, Postpartum, and Antepartum care
- Patient ratio of 1:1-2
Requirements
- Active WA or compact RN license required, must be in hand at time of consideration
- BLS and NRP certifications required; ACLS and AWHONN Advanced/Intermediate certifications preferred
- Minimum of 3-5 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
- 2 years of experience in high-acuity, fast-paced environment required
- High-risk L&D experience strongly preferred; candidates with 3+ years and high-risk experience will be considered
- Epic EMR experience required
- Must be able to circulate for C-sections and provide newborn care, including eye and Vitamin K injections, thigh injections, and newborn assessments
- Must be able to function in the Baby Nurse role during delivery and continue newborn care until transfer to postpartum
- Experience with medications including Heparin, Insulin, and Magnesium Sulfate required
- Current supervisory references required, covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years
- Current Nursys verification required
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive labor and delivery care across high-risk and high-volume cases, including vaginal and cesarean deliveries
- Perform newborn care duties including APGAR scoring, ID/security banding, neonatal resuscitation, and thermoregulation using radiant warmers
- Support postpartum patients with couplet care, hemorrhage management, and care following multiple births
- Provide pain management support including epidural, general anesthesia, nitrous oxide, and opioid administration
- Assist with antepartum triage and care for high-risk antepartum patients
- Staffing follows AWHONN guidelines
- Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
- Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to qualify for travel rates
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Former Providence permanent employees may return as travelers after a 3-month separation period, provided they reside outside the 50-mile radius
- Candidates can only be submitted to one Providence facility at a time
- Pre-approved time off is considered on a case-by-case basis and must be requested at the time of consideration
