Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring a TN or compact RN license, travel experience, and night shift availability with on-call obligations.

Details

  • Hospital Labor & Delivery unit setting
  • Works across L&D, LDRP, Antepartum, Mother/Baby, and Level I Nursery settings
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2
  • Night shift, with schedule options of 3x12 or 4x12 hours (19:00–07:30)
  • Every other weekend or 2 weekends per month required
  • On-call requirement: 36 hours every 6 weeks
  • Floating required, per facility policy and Joint Commission standards
  • Cerner EMR preferred but not required

Requirements

  • Active TN or compact RN license required and must be in hand at time of consideration
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate, and NRP (NIHSS may be obtained after offer)
  • All licenses and certifications must not expire within 45 days of the assignment start date
  • Minimum 2 years of L&D RN experience required
  • Travel experience required
  • Core clinical skills required: IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood administration, infusion pump management, labor and delivery management, C-section circulating, hemorrhage/shock response, and fetal monitoring (external and internal)
  • Proficiency in antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum care including triage, EFM, magnesium sulfate therapy, Pitocin administration, and neonatal care in the delivery room
  • Candidates must permanently reside more than 75 miles from the facility to qualify for the travel pay rate
  • Proof of residency (mortgage/lease agreement and a utility bill linked to the physical residence) required upon acceptance

Additional Information

  • Responsibilities span the full continuum of L&D care including antepartum monitoring (NST, OCT, EFM), labor management, C-section scrub/circulate/recovery, postpartum and couplet care, and neonatal assessment and newborn care
  • Preferred skills include amnioinfusion, assisting with high-risk and vaginal deliveries, scrubbing for C-sections, and sterile vaginal exams
  • Preferred medications include anticoagulation therapy, antiseizure medications, insulin drips, prostaglandins, and terbutaline
  • RTO is not available during any major holiday or holiday week, including Valentine's Day, Spring Break, Easter, Mother's Day, Memorial Day, Father's Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Fall Break, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's; RTO requests may be discussed directly with the manager after onsite arrival
  • RTO cannot occur within 14 days of the start date and cannot exceed 7 days total
  • Former permanent staff cannot return to the same campus within 24 months; return to a different Covenant Health campus is permitted after 12 months
  • Travelers who are related or married may not be placed on the same unit
