Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor and Delivery position requiring high-risk OB experience and a WA or compact RN license.

Details

  • term acute care, Level II Trauma Center and Level II Pediatric Trauma teaching hospital
  • Labor and Delivery unit caring for high-risk labor, antepartum, and postpartum patients
  • Patient population includes pre-eclampsia, diabetes, multiples, VBAC/TOLAC, induction/augmentation, and maternal emergencies
  • Expected ratios of 1:2 for Labor patients and 1:3 for Antepartum patients
  • Night shift schedule (3x12 hours), 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
  • Some weekend shifts required
  • Floating between units required
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

  • Active WA or compact RN license required, in hand at time of consideration
  • Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
  • Experience with 1:2 patient ratios required
  • Certifications required: ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate, BLS, FHM, NRP
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Skilled in IV therapy, blood product administration, and central line maintenance
  • Experience with high-risk delivery, C-section circulation/scrub/recovery, and vaginal delivery assistance
  • Experience with fetal monitoring including external and internal fetal monitoring and IUPC placement
  • Experience managing high-risk OB conditions such as HELLP syndrome, pre-eclampsia/eclampsia, placenta previa/abruptio, and uterine rupture
  • Experience with medication administration including magnesium sulfate, pitocin, and antihypertensives
  • Two supervisory references covering at least 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty required
  • Full SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive care across antepartum, labor and delivery, and postpartum stages, including high-risk OB management
  • Assist with high-risk and vaginal deliveries, C-sections, and neonatal resuscitation in the delivery room
  • Support patients with complex conditions such as gestational diabetes, substance abuse, and infectious disease during pregnancy
  • Provide postpartum care including breastfeeding support, wound care, and management of postpartum hemorrhage
  • Perform antepartum procedures such as NSTs, OCTs, and sterile vaginal exams
  • Travelers may be expected to float between sister facilities near the contracted location
  • Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
  • All RTO and scheduling requests must be submitted upfront prior to starting the assignment
  • Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must not live within 50 miles of the facility
  • Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate
  • Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius to qualify for travel rate
  • First-time travelers may be considered given prior Labor and Delivery experience allowing independent functioning
  • No fee for parking
