Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse, Labor and Delivery – Eureka, CA 95501
Start Date: August 24, 2026
Location: Eureka, California
Schedule: Night shift, 4x12-hour shifts (18:00 - 06:30). Weekend coverage required to meet staffing needs. Must be willing to work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year). 40 hours of orientation provided.
Highlights:
- 13-week travel assignment in a culturally diverse Labor and Delivery unit caring for high-risk obstetric patients
- 11 rooms with 15 beds; average daily census of 15-20 patients with approximately 20 visits per day
- RNs circulate on cesarean sections and provide comprehensive labor, delivery, and postpartum care
- Interdisciplinary support including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Pharmacy, Radiology, and Rapid Response Teams
- Opportunity to work with a facility performing over 300 births per month with baby-friendly protocols
- First-time travelers accepted for this position
Requirements:
- Active California RN license (must be in hand; pending licenses not accepted)
- Minimum 1 year of Labor and Delivery nursing experience required
- Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate
- Epic charting system experience required
- Experience with patient ratios of 1:3 and comprehensive L&D skills including labor support, vaginal delivery assistance, C-section circulation, postpartum care, and newborn assessment
- Willingness to float within scope to meet facility needs (travelers are first to float)
- Two professional references covering 1 year within the last 3 years
- Requested time off limited to no more than 7 days during assignment
- Must reside outside 50-mile local radius
