Description

American Traveler is hiring a High Risk Labor and Delivery RN with 1+ years of specialty experience and Epic charting proficiency for a Level 3 trauma teaching hospital.

Details

  • Work in the Labor and Delivery unit of an acute care teaching hospital with Level 3 trauma designation
  • High risk Labor and Delivery patient population with 1:1 patient ratios
  • Facility performs 200-300 births per month
  • Perform and assist with specialized procedures including C-sections, PPTL, D&C, cerclage placement/removal, and waterbirth
  • Day and Night shift options available, 3x12 hour shifts (Day 7:00-19:30, Night 19:00-7:30)
  • Every other weekend required
  • No on-call requirements
  • Float to postpartum unit within scope as needed, and may float to affiliate hospitals nearby
  • Uses Epic (Excellian) charting system

Requirements

  • Active MN RN license required (pending license accepted)
  • Current certifications: BLS, NRP required; Advanced NRP, AWHONN Intermediate, and FHM preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of Labor and Delivery specialty experience required
  • Epic/Excellian charting experience required
  • Skilled in labor and delivery management including high risk and vaginal delivery assistance, C-section circulation, hemorrhage/shock management, and sterile vaginal exams
  • Experience with fetal monitoring including external and internal fetal heart rate monitoring and IUPC placement
  • Experience with antepartum, postpartum, and newborn care including NST, lactation support, and newborn assessment
  • Experience with medication administration including antihypertensives, insulin drips, magnesium sulfate, pitocin, and prostaglandins
  • 1 supervisor reference required
  • Copy of certifications, Nursys verification, date of birth, and SSN required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive care for high risk antepartum, labor, delivery, and postpartum patients
  • Care for patients with complex conditions including pre-eclampsia, placenta previa, HELLP syndrome, preterm labor, and VBAC management
  • Assist with neonatal care in the delivery room including APGAR scoring, cord sample collection, and neonatal resuscitation
  • Support pain management including epidural anesthesia and PCA use
  • Scrubs are provided by the unit
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Candidates must live at least 100 miles from the facility to be considered, with no local candidate exception for this position
  • RTO ideally limited to no more than 5 days during the assignment
  • Returning staff must have been separated from perm employment (staff or per diem) for at least 3 months before starting a travel assignment
  • Fingerprinting via LiveScan is a Minnesota state requirement for all candidates with no exceptions
