Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring an MD or compact RN license, C-EFM certification, and at least one prior travel assignment.
Details
- Labor & Delivery unit in a hospital setting
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 18:50–07:20
- Every other weekend required
- On-call required: 2 shifts per 6-week schedule
- Floating required to Mother/Baby and scrub roles
- Patient ratio of 1:2
- Cerner EMR (preferred)
- Antepartum and high-risk antepartum patient populations
- Procedures include vaginal and C-section deliveries, hemorrhage/shock management, and fetal monitoring
Requirements
- Active MD or compact RN license required
- Required certifications: C-EFM (through NCC), BLS, NRP, and STABLE — all must be in hand at time of consideration
- ACLS and AWHONN Advanced certifications preferred
- Minimum 2 years of recent L&D experience required; 3 years strongly preferred
- At least one completed travel assignment (or one month of per diem) required
- Cerner EMR experience preferred
- Scrub experience preferred
- Charge experience preferred
- Two supervisory references required, including one from the most recent assignment, supporting at least 2 years of experience in the previous 3 years
- Driver's license required for local status determination
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include labor and delivery management, assisting with high-risk and vaginal deliveries, circulating and scrubbing for C-sections, antepartum and postpartum care, neonatal care in the delivery room, and fetal heart rate monitoring
- Skills utilized include IV therapy, administration of blood products, use of infusion pumps, magnesium sulfate therapy, Pitocin administration, EFM (internal and external), and IUPC placement
- Candidates who have previously worked for MedStar must have been separated for a minimum of one year before returning as a traveler
- Candidates may only be submitted to one MedStar location at a time
- Manager interviews are not guaranteed
- No RTO permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment; no more than 7 days of RTO per 13-week contract
- Local candidates residing within 60 miles of the facility are accepted at a different rate
- Candidates must reside at an address matching their driver's license for local status determination
