Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Interventional Radiology position requiring 2+ years of IR and neuro/stroke procedure experience with call rotation responsibilities.

Details

  • Work in the Interventional Radiology unit of a tertiary care hospital
  • Handle approximately 16 cases per day across three IR rooms with pre and post coverage in the Radiology Pre Post Unit (RPPU) as needed
  • Day shift schedule, 4x10 hours, Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM
  • 40 hours per week can be offered
  • Manager creates and manages the schedule
  • No floating required
  • Call requirement includes being at the hospital within 30 minutes of notification
  • Call rotation includes 1 week of backup call and primary call on Thursdays, totaling approximately 8 call days within a 10-12 week period
  • Weekend call is 24 hours with backup coverage, Saturday and Sunday 7:00 AM to 7:00 AM on a rotational basis
  • Weekend work required based on call rotation
  • May be required to take call one holiday as primary or backup
  • Uses Pyxis, Epic, and SBAR systems

Requirements

  • Active NC or compact RN license (pending license/certifications acceptable at submission)
  • Current certifications: ACLS and BLS required; NIHSS also required; PALS preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience required (hard requirement)
  • IR experience along with neuro/stroke procedure and coiling experience required
  • Skilled in conscious sedation and telemetry monitoring
  • Understanding of IR procedures including stroke care required
  • Experience with dysrhythmia interpretation/management and ventilator management
  • Experience with procedural sedation administration and monitoring
  • Circulating and ventilator management skills preferred
  • Epic charting experience preferred but not required

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care in interventional radiology procedures including stroke interventions and coiling
  • Support case coverage across three IR rooms plus pre/post unit as needed
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Contracts of 13 weeks or longer will be considered
  • Candidates may indicate interest in longer assignments up to the facility's end date
  • Weekly hospital orientation includes 8 hours of classes; availability required each day during orientation week
  • Pre-start modules required (approximately 8-10 hours for acute care roles), completed online via Chrome or Edge, and renewed annually
  • Scrubs are provided in ceil blue
  • Local candidates within 50 miles are accepted at a lower rate
  • Former Novant Health or New Hanover PERM/PRN/EP employees must wait 12 months before applying and disclose prior employment details for facility approval
  • Current travel per diem clinicians must choose between per diem and travel contract status
  • Travel pairs are allowed if placed on different units and disclosed at submission
  • Up to 7 days of RTO can be auto-approved excluding holidays; no RTO permitted during the first week of assignment
  • Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
  • All RTO must be pre-approved and cannot be requested after signing
