Job Title: Interventional Radiology Rad Tech Profession: Radiologic Technologist Specialty: Interventional Radiology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 4x10 Hours per Shift: 10 Experience: Two (2) years required License: Technician License (New York) Certifications: BLS (American Heart Association) required; AART required; VIR preferred Must-Have: Neurosurgery/Neuroscience Experience required Description: The Interventional Radiology Rad Tech must have Neurosurgery/Neuroscience experience. Work schedule is 4x10 hours, including days, weekends, and holidays, with on-call/callback as needed. Call is required 1-2 times per week and 1-2 weekends of call per month. The preferred candidate will have interventional radiology experience. Typically, training from other modalities for up to six months is provided for new hires in neuro IR. The Rad Tech demonstrates competence in selecting exposure factors and positioning to consistently produce diagnostic-quality images. They work cooperatively with all members of the department to resolve problems promptly. Flexibility, team spirit, compassion, respect, politeness, and accountability are essential when dealing with customers. Demonstrating awareness and sensitivity to patient rights during all interactions is crucial. The Rad Tech administers oral contrast as needed for examinations. They instruct and prepare patients for radiographic/fluoroscopic exams and assist during procedures. Competence and proficiency in operating all x-ray equipment, CR, and DR systems is expected. Reporting equipment malfunctions to management is necessary. All assigned procedures must be completed in a timely manner, and time between procedures should be used to assist others, perform clerical duties, stock, and transport as needed. The Rad Tech understands their role in maintaining medication security for authorized personnel only. Competency in providing healthcare services across all age groups is required. Interpersonal relationship skills with all age groups are essential. Documentation and information management include competency in using Hospital Information Systems (HIS), Radiology Information Systems (RIS), and PACS. Participation in performance improvement activities and maintaining confidentiality using personal passwords for all patient care modules are necessary responsibilities. Answering technical inquiries from physicians or hospital personnel while maintaining good phone etiquette is also required.
