Join a skilled team of imaging professionals as an Interventional Radiology Technologist in Richmond, VA. Use your expertise to perform invasive diagnostic and interventional procedures, operate and assure quality of imaging equipment, monitor patients, and support licensed practitioners during fluoroscopic and specialized neuro-interventional procedures. This position involves pediatric and adult patient care and requires flexibility in a high-volume environment.


Minimum Qualifications

  • ARRT certification (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) required.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) required.
  • Neuro angiography / Neuro-Interventional experience required.
  • Experience beyond basic peripheral access, lines, or drains required.
  • Experience with pediatric and adult patient populations.
  • EPIC Electronic Health Record experience required.
  • Proficiency with PACS (Picture Archival Communication System) preferred.
  • Associate degree from an ARRT-accredited program preferred.
  • Ability to scrub for CT procedures occasionally.
  • Experience in a high-volume interventional radiology or angiography environment preferred.
  • State radiologic technologist license as required by state law.


Preferred Qualifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred.
  • Certification in Cardiovascular-Interventional Radiography (R.T.(R)(CV)(ARRT)) preferred.
  • Vascular-Interventional Radiology certification (R.T.(R)(VI)(ARRT)) preferred.
  • Experience with Philips imaging systems preferred.
  • Prior experience assisting with CT, ultrasound, and diagnostic procedures preferred.


Assignment Details

  • Schedule: 10-hour days, Monday through Friday with alternating day off.
  • Call requirement: Weekday call required plus rotating weekend call (Fri–Sun) with a 30-minute response time; call frequency varies based on staffing and vacations.
  • Typical case volume: 10–15 cases per day.
  • May assist with CT, ultrasound, and diagnostic procedures as needed.
  • Equipment: Philips imaging systems.

Impacting Patient Care

As an Interventional Radiology Technologist, you will assist licensed practitioners with fluoroscopic and specialized interventional and neuro-interventional procedures using sterile technique. Responsibilities include preparing and administering contrast with power injectors as prescribed, applying radiation protection principles, verifying informed consent, completing pre/post procedural documentation and timeouts, assessing and initially managing contrast reactions, using PACS and EHR systems, maintaining inventory, and educating others. This role supports high standards of patient safety and procedural quality.
