Job Title: Interventional Radiology Technologist Profession: Radiologic Technologist Specialty: Interventional Radiology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: AM Hours per Shift: 10 hours Experience: 3-5 years preferred License: ARRT-R (with VI or CV credential) or RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist) required Certifications: BLS required Must-Have: Intermediate knowledge of x-ray equipment and troubleshooting Travel experience preferred Description: The Interventional Vascular Specialist II precepts new staff and students. They should have intermediate knowledge of x-ray equipment and troubleshooting. Assists in more advanced procedures such as pulmonary thrombectomy, AAA, TEVAR, and FEVAR. Able to assist with complex procedures, including multiple wire exchanges, and able to use long wires and OTW balloons. Should be able to use specialty devices such as laser, penumbra, Inari, and shockwave. Circulates, monitors, and scrubs all Interventional Vascular procedures. Troubleshoots imaging equipment and collaborates with biomedical engineers for service. Participates in procedural charging and maintains supply management. Able to act quickly under emergency situations. Able to discuss with physician a plan of action and assist with any high-risk procedures. Cross-trains as needed to support departmental needs. Understands and works with x-ray systems, including the panning table and recognizing different angles. Manages access sites, including proper removal of sheath, assessment of hematoma, and knowledge of hematoma management. Understands concepts of radiation safety. Knowledgeable in vascular anatomy and recognizing different types of lesions. Basic knowledge of supply features and applications to procedures. Knowledge and adherence to sterile technique. Able to communicate effectively with the team, patients, families, and medical staff.
