Job Title: Interventional Radiology Technologist Profession: Radiologic Technologist Specialty: Interventional Radiology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: AM Hours per Shift: 10 hours Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years in a related role License: ARRT-R with VI or CV credential, or RCIS required Certifications: BLS required Must-Have: - Intermediate knowledge of x-ray equipment and troubleshooting - Experience in assisting with advanced procedures such as pulmonary thrombectomy, AAA, TEVAR, FEVAR - Ability to assist with complex procedures, including multiple wire exchanges and use of long wires and OTW balloons - Proficiency with specialty devices such as laser, penumbra, Inari, and shockwave - Skills in circulating, monitoring, and scrubbing all interventional vascular procedures - Ability to troubleshoot imaging equipment and collaborate with biomedical engineers - Participation in procedural charging and supply management - Capacity to act quickly in emergency situations - Ability to discuss procedural plans with physicians and assist with high-risk procedures - Cross-training capability to support departmental needs - Understanding of x-ray systems and radiation safety concepts - Knowledge of vascular anatomy and lesion types - Familiarity with sterile technique and communication with team members, patients, and families Description: The Interventional Radiology Technologist will precept new staff and students. They assist in complex procedures and manage access sites, including sheath removal and hematoma assessments. They will maintain effective communication with the medical team and possess a basic understanding of supply features related to procedures. Candidates are expected to adhere to sterile technique and maintain high standards of patient care. The role requires a strong knowledge of vascular anatomy and the ability to recognize different lesion types. The ability to act under pressure and handle emergencies is essential. The technologist will also manage imaging equipment and ensure compliance with radiation safety standards.
