Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an ICU/Oncology position requiring 2+ years of ICU experience and Epic charting proficiency.

Details

• Work in the ICU/Onc unit of a Magnet-designated, teaching hospital and Level I Trauma Center
• Unit has an average daily census of 21 with 25 beds
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Night shift schedule, 4x12 hours from 19:00 to 7:30
• Ability to sign for either 36 or 48 hours per week
• Required to work every other weekend
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating required within the oncology service line and ICUs, with potential to float anywhere
• No chemotherapy administration, central lines, or chest tube insertion/removal performed by nursing staff
• Nurses perform their own phlebotomy draws
• Utilizes Pyxis, EPIC, and SBAR handoff processes
• Supported by Interpretation Services, IV Teams, Pharmacy, PT, Social Services, Radiology, Respiratory, Rapid Response Teams, Patient Transport, and Unit Secretary

Requirements

• Active MO or compact RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• BSN preferred
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Must pass Relias EKG exam covering interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Skills required include interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, multi-system organ failure management, IV insulin protocols, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care/management, PICC line management, starting IVs, continuous IV sedation, procedural sedation administration, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, BiPAP, care of ventilated patients, high flow nasal cannula, interpretation of ABGs, suctioning (ETT, NT), ventilator management, infection prevention, isolation precautions/PPE use, phlebotomy, and surgical wound care with drains/wound vac
• Must have facial hair that allows for proper fit testing or be willing to shave

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to ICU/Oncology patients including management of complex conditions and dysrhythmias
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Navy blue scrub color required
• No local candidates accepted within a 75-mile radius
• No more than 7 days of RTO permitted per 13-week contract, with no RTO allowed during the first week of the assignment
• Contract length is firm at 13 weeks
• Returning permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning to any BJC facility as a traveler
• Standard travelers may work up to an 18-month period before requiring a 3-month break in service
• Pending license accepted at time of consideration
