Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Medical/Surgical ICU night shift position requiring active MA licensure and 2 years of MICU/SICU experience.

Details

  • Work in the Medical Intensive Care Unit and Surgical Intensive Care Unit of a hospital setting
  • Patient ratio of 1:2
  • Night shift schedule (3x12 hours), 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
  • Every third weekend required (Friday-Saturday)
  • 36 hours per week position, with facility open to 48 HPW
  • Float to the Emergency Department for boarders as needed
  • Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

  • Active Massachusetts RN license required in hand
  • Current certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience required, including previous Medical ICU and Surgical ICU experience
  • Community hospital experience required
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Skilled in critical care competencies including ventilator management, arterial line management, central line care, continuous IV sedation/paralytics, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, and interpretation of ABGs and dysrhythmias
  • Two professional references required for consideration, with at least one from a Nurse Manager or higher

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive critical care nursing to medically and surgically complex ICU patients, including ventilator and hemodynamic management
  • Union facility with no special scheduling accommodations; must be able to work all 7 days of the week if scheduled
  • Must pass two mandatory pass/fail exams during orientation: a medication exam and a telemetry exam, each allowing only one attempt; failure to pass results in immediate contract cancellation
  • Study materials for required exams are provided during the compliance process and facility-directed interviews
  • Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate within a 200-mile radius
  • Previous employees must have a 12-month separation from the health system to be eligible for return
  • Up to 14 days of requested time off may be submitted for review, with no RTO permitted during the first week of the assignment
  • First-time travelers are not being considered for this position
