Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an ICU position at a Level I Trauma Center in Illinois, requiring a minimum of 2 years of recent ICU experience and an active IL RN license.

Details

  • Night shift position working 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
  • ICU setting within a Level I Trauma Center and teaching hospital
  • Charting is performed in Cerner, experience required
  • Every other weekend (2 weekends per month) required
  • No on-call requirements
  • This is a mandatory float facility — clinicians should expect to float regularly and without a guaranteed home unit
  • ICU RNs may float between Burn ICU, CCU, Medical ICU, SICU, and Neuro ICU, and may occasionally be asked to float to med-surg units to support staffing
  • Clinicians may be required to float to other Cook facilities within a 50-mile radius, with as little as 2 hours' notice before shift start
  • If floated outside of primary competency, a team-based care model will be in place to ensure appropriate support
  • No block scheduling is permitted

Requirements

  • Active IL RN license in hand (no pending licenses accepted)
  • Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
  • Minimum 2 years of recent acute care ICU experience required
  • Cerner EMR experience required
  • Proficiency in ICU skills including: IV therapy, arterial line management, central line care/management, BiPAP/CPAP management, ventilator management, care of ventilated patients, ABG interpretation, ETT/NT suctioning, continuous IV sedation, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and management of multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
  • Isolation precautions/PPE compliance required
  • COVID vaccination proof required — booster not required
  • Two professional references from supervisors at the two most recent employers required prior to consideration
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply

Additional Information

  • Orientation and first precepting shift will be on day shift
  • Scrubs are navy blue and are not provided by the facility
  • RTO is capped at 5 days maximum, with no more than 2 consecutive days off
  • No RTO is permitted on weekends, on holidays, or the day before or after a holiday
  • All RTO must be submitted at the time of profile submission
  • Candidates living within 75 miles of the facility are considered local and are accepted — local candidates are preferred
  • Returning resources are required to complete full recredentialing and attend orientation again, regardless of the length of any break in contract
  • EndoTool experience is preferred
