Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Cardiothoracic ICU float pool position at an academic medical center in Chapel Hill, NC, requiring at least 1 year of nursing experience and active NC or compact RN licensure.

Details

  • Cardiothoracic ICU float pool position within an academic medical center inpatient setting
  • As part of the ICU float pool, nurses may be assigned to any ICU unit based on need, including Surgical, Neuro, Medicine, Cardiac, Cardiovascular, and Burn Center ICUs
  • May also float to stepdown units as needed
  • Patient ratios are generally 1:1, with a maximum of 1:3; stepdown assignments carry a 1:3 ratio
  • Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week (36 hours/week)
  • 48-hour weeks may be offered
  • Every other weekend (EOW) required
  • No on-call required

Requirements

  • Active RN license in North Carolina or a compact RN license recognized in NC
  • Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC)
  • Current ACLS certification
  • Current NIHSS certification
  • Minimum 1 year of nursing experience
  • Nursing Diploma, ADN, or ASN from an accredited nursing program required; BSN or MSN preferred
  • Two professional references required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Responsibilities include patient assessment, care planning, interdisciplinary collaboration, discharge planning, and complex patient care across ICU and stepdown settings
  • Expected to advocate for patients and families and address cultural and ethnic considerations in care planning
  • Holiday coverage required every other holiday (EOH)
  • BSN or MSN is preferred but not required
