ICU Registered Nurse (RN) – Travel Nursing Job in Chesapeake, Virginia

Travel Nurse Job Details

  • Specialty: Intensive Care Unit (ICU) / Critical Care
  • Employment Type: Travel RN
  • Schedule: 12-hour day shifts; 3x12 or 4x12 schedule options
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Floating: Required to Stepdown, and may also float to the Emergency Department or Medical-Surgical units to care for ICU patients
  • Holiday Coverage: Holidays within the contract are required
  • Contract Length: 21 weeks
  • Start Date: 8/24/2026
  • Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,800 - $1,890
  • Location: Chesapeake, VA 23320

ICU RN Job Requirements

  • At least 1 year of ICU nursing or critical care experience required; 3 years preferred
  • Previous travel nursing experience preferred
  • Active Virginia RN license or Compact RN license in hand at time of submission
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Strong neuro critical care experience preferred, including post-neurosurgical care, EVD management, and stroke care
  • Experience with ventilators, IV drip titration, telemetry, conscious sedation, and dysrhythmia management
  • Must be able to pass required compliance and testing requirements
  • Must live more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify

ICU Registered Nurse Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality critical care nursing to adult and geriatric ICU patients with complex medical needs
  • Monitor and manage ventilated patients, vasoactive drips, and telemetry
  • Support patients with neuro, respiratory, renal, cardiac, and post-surgical diagnoses
  • Perform dysrhythmia recognition and respond quickly to changes in patient condition
  • Administer and titrate IV medications, including sedatives and critical drips
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care
  • Float as needed to Stepdown or other designated units to support ICU-level patients
  • Maintain accurate documentation in Epic and follow all unit and compliance standards
