Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a hospital ICU position requiring 2 years of ICU experience and GA or compact RN licensure.

Details

  • Work in a 24-bed Intensive Care Unit with an average daily census of 19 patients
  • Patient population ranges from adults to geriatrics with diagnoses including ARDS, sepsis, stroke, STEMI, DKA, post-op complications, cardiogenic shock, GIB, COPD exacerbation, encephalopathy, liver failure, drug overdose, and ESRD on CRRT
  • Patient ratio of 1:2-3, with travelers expected to be prepared to take a third patient
  • Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
  • Every other weekend required unless otherwise specified
  • Floating required within facility and scope of practice as needed
  • Uses Pyxis and Epic systems along with SBAR communication
  • Navy blue scrubs required
  • Block scheduling is not guaranteed
  • Travel pairs are not permitted on the same unit and shift

Requirements

  • Active GA or compact RN license required
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required prior to start
  • TNCC certification preferred
  • Experience with care of ventilated patients, HFNC, suctioning (ETT, NT), IV therapy, and central line care/management required
  • Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management required
  • CVA/acute stroke management experience required
  • Post neurosurgery management experience preferred
  • CVVHD/CRRT experience preferred
  • Post cardiac surgery care experience preferred
  • First-time travelers accepted

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care within the ICU for a wide range of critical diagnoses and post-surgical conditions
  • Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, with all requests finalized prior to submission
  • Holiday coverage required based on the number of major holidays falling within the assignment period, including Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/Day
  • Local candidates accepted at the same rate
  • Previous Piedmont employees must be away from all Piedmont facilities for one full year before returning as a traveler
  • Travelers who were unable to return to a specific Piedmont facility must complete one successful assignment outside of Piedmont before rebooking
