Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a combined Medical/Surgical/Neuro/Cardiac ICU position at a Level 2 Trauma teaching hospital in Rome, GA, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience and active GA or compact RN license.

- Combined Medical, Surgical, Neuro, and Cardiac ICU unit with 26 beds in a 361-bed Level 2 Trauma designated teaching hospital with a Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center
- ICU patient population includes drug overdose, MI, subarachnoid hemorrhage, sepsis, acute respiratory failure, MVC, AAA, and suicide attempts
- Patients on Life Link, CRRT, and intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) are present; travelers are not assigned CRRT or IABP patients
- Standard nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2, with potential for 1:3 depending on acuity
- 12-hour night shifts, 7p–7a (1900–0700), 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend rotation required
- Floating required to all Med/Surg and Critical Care areas, including ED boarders
- On-call may be requested in low-census situations, though rare
- EMR: Epic (experience required)
Requirements
- Active GA or compact RN license required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- TNCC preferred; CPI required (facility will provide if not already held)
- CCRN preferred
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
- Proficiency in ICU skills including arrhythmia monitoring, sedation, paralytics, titratable drips, CVP monitoring, s/p craniotomy patient care, and tPA administration
- At least 1 professional reference from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN dated within the past year
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
Additional Information
- Orientation consists of the first week in New Employee Orientation (Monday–Friday, 8:00am–4:30pm), followed by 2–3 days of departmental orientation on the floor
- Department support staff includes CNAs/nurse techs, respiratory therapists, phlebotomists, safety sitters, virtual patient observers, virtual RN, and security
- Equipment used includes cardiac monitors, ventilators, BiPap, Alaris pumps, Glucommander, Precision BBG monitor, specialty beds, and virtual RN/patient observer technology
- Navy scrubs required
- Free parking available on-site
- Department culture emphasizes teamwork, mutual support, and timely response to telemetry and patient needs
- Must cover 70% of assigned holidays
- Candidates who previously worked a permanent position at an AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year to be eligible
- Local candidates are accepted; no radius rule applies — same rate offered to local travelers at GA facilities
- First-time travelers will be considered, though not preferred
