American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a Level I Trauma and stroke unit position requiring NIH Stroke Scale certification and a 2:1 or 1:1 patient ratio.

Details

  • Work in the ICU of a Level I Trauma and stroke hospital unit
  • Care for primary trauma and neuro/stroke patient populations
  • Maintain 2:1 or 1:1 patient ratios
  • Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours (7:00 AM to 7:30 PM)
  • Every other weekend (EOW) required
  • Floating required as needed
  • Holiday coverage required as needed
  • Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

  • Active FL or Compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
  • Current ACLS and BLS certifications via AHA
  • NIH Stroke Scale certification required in hand at time of consideration
  • Minimum 3 years recent critical care experience with acute/chronically ill patients
  • Trauma and Neuro experience required
  • Level I Trauma experience required
  • Charge RN and Neuro ICU experience preferred
  • Epic EMR experience required; Cerner experience preferred
  • Degree from an accredited nursing school required; candidates from Operation Nightingale schools not accepted
  • If degree is from an FBON-approved institution, 2 years of recent consecutive acute care experience within the past 24 months in a US hospital is also required
  • Skilled in IV therapy, arterial and central line management, ventilator care, suctioning, BiPAP/CPAP management, and cardiac drip titration
  • Proficient in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Successful completion of a Florida AHCA Level 2 background screening required, including fingerprint-based state and federal criminal history checks and abuse registry review

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care nursing to trauma and neuro/stroke patients in a Level I Trauma center
  • Perform cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and management of ventilated patients
  • Follow isolation precautions and PPE protocols
  • Facility is a smoke-free environment
  • Must pass a basic arrhythmia/EKG assessment as part of onboarding
  • Must complete lab testing within 72 hours of signing
  • Locals within a 60-mile radius are considered at a lower pay rate
  • Permanent Broward Health employees must be separated from the facility for 1 year before returning as a traveler
  • First-time travelers are not required to have prior travel experience for consideration
