Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Emergency Department position in California, requiring a CA RN license, a minimum of 2 years of ED experience, and prior travel experience.
Details
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 1900–0730
- Weekend rotation required
- No on-call requirement
- General Emergency Department serving a combined adult and pediatric population
- Patient ratio of 1:4
- Handles a broad acuity range including trauma, psychiatric holds, cardiac emergencies, and pediatric cases
- Procedures performed include IV therapy, Foley catheter placement, wound dressing, arterial line management, central line care, chest tube management, intubation, and procedural sedation
- Cardiac monitoring responsibilities include interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, 12-lead EKG/ECG acquisition, and management of multisystem organ dysfunction
- Respiratory management includes BiPAP/CPAP, ventilator care, and ABG interpretation
- Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
Requirements
- Active CA RN license required
- Current BLS (AHA or ARC) required
- Current ACLS (AHA or ARC) required
- Current PALS (AHA or ARC) required
- NIHSS certification required; TNCC preferred
- Minimum 2 years of ED experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Proficiency with triage, pediatric care, psychiatric patient management, and IV therapy/phlebotomy
- 2 supervisory references obtained within the past year required for consideration
- 7-year work history verification required
Additional Information
- Provides evidence-based emergency nursing care including clinical assessments, medication administration, patient and family education, and safety advocacy
- Must be proficient in safe use of telemetry monitoring, IV equipment, and ventilators
- Local candidates are accepted; candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to qualify for travel pay rates
- Former employees are eligible to return; former manager's name will be needed on the application
- RTO is capped at 7 days per contract
- Only 1 holiday RTO request will be approved per contract; covered holidays include New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day (holiday period begins at 7:00 PM the night before and ends at 7:00 AM the day after)
- All compliance documents must be submitted 10 days prior to start date
- Orientation includes non-billable online learning modules averaging 1–5 hours depending on specialty
