Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position in Rochester, NY, requiring an active NY RN license and Epic proficiency for a 13-week night shift contract.

Details

  • Night shift schedule: 7p–7a (3x12-hour shifts)
  • 13-week contract in an adult Emergency Department
  • Patient population includes adults and geriatrics presenting with all emergency-type diagnoses
  • Patient ratio is 1:5
  • Dedicated pediatric ED, crisis intervention unit, and trauma suite on-site
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Every other weekend required
  • Every other holiday required, as needed
  • Floating within skillset required
  • Scrub color must be any combination of navy blue and white

Requirements

  • Active NY Single State RN license required (NY is not a Compact state); pending licenses are not accepted
  • Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and PALS
  • Minimum 1 year of ED nursing experience required
  • Proficiency in IV therapy including blood product administration, central line care, phlebotomy, and starting/maintaining IVs
  • Experience with IV vasopressors required
  • Experience with CPAP/BiPAP and ventilator management required
  • Experience managing CVA/stroke, neuro-trauma, spinal cord injury, and TBI patients required
  • Cardiac monitoring experience including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias required
  • Emergency care experience including adult and pediatric ED, gunshot wounds, and ortho trauma required
  • Experience with isolation precautions, triage, and pediatric spinal cord injury required
  • 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
  • Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration

  • The hospital is a 528-bed acute care Magnet-recognized teaching facility certified as an Advanced Thrombectomy Capable Stroke Center
  • The hospital is affiliated with Cleveland Clinic and Roswell Park
  • Special equipment includes Bair Hugger, rapid infuser, and safe patient handling equipment
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Candidates residing within 75 miles of the facility are not eligible for this position
