Specialty: Registered Nurse – Emergency Department
Shift: 12-Hour Days/Nights (7:00–7:00, 11:00–11:00, or 3:00–3:00)
Contract Length: 13 Weeks
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of recent Emergency Department experience
- BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS required
- TNCC and ENPC preferred
- Strong IV skills and EKG/rhythm interpretation required
Unit Highlights
- 26-bed Emergency Department
- 3 Trauma Bays
- 4-bed treatment/fast-track area
- Approximately 60 patients per day
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4
- EMR: Cerner
Patient Population
- Abdominal pain
- Altered mental status
- Chest pain
- Stroke patients
- STEMI (stabilize and transfer)
- Shortness of breath
- COVID patients
- Moderate sedation cases
- Pediatric through geriatric patients
Unit Support
- 24/7 ED physicians, PAs, and NPs
- Charge nurse available 24/7 (takes patient assignments)
- RT available 24/7
- Medics and PCTs assist with:
- IVs
- EKGs
- Medication administration
- Patient transport
- Security staffed 24/7 by law enforcement officers
Scheduling & Expectations
- 6-week scheduling cycle
- Self-scheduling with manager approval
- Initial schedule fills staffing gaps
- No block scheduling
- Every 3rd weekend
- Holiday flexibility required
- No call required
- Limited floating (primarily sitter assignments if needed)
- Orientation includes 1–2 shifts with a preceptor
Dress Code
- Navy blue scrubs
- No facial piercings (nose stud permitted if covered by a mask)
- Tattoos permitted if professional and non-offensive
Important Submission Requirements
- 50-mile local radius rule applies
- Unexpired driver's license must be included with submission
- Any licensing or background issues must be disclosed at the time of submission
- RTO must be submitted upfront
- Candidates should be fully committed to completing the assignment, with strong punctuality and reliability
