Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an ER Holding position requiring a minimum of 2 years of ER experience and an active OH or compact RN license.

Details

  • Work in the ER Holding unit of a teaching hospital environment
  • Patient population includes pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
  • Patient ratio of 1:4
  • Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
  • 13-week assignment length
  • Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

  • Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
  • Minimum 2 years of ER experience required in work history
  • ER observation/holding, MS/Tele, Tele, or PCU/Stepdown experience also acceptable
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and PALS
  • Skills in telemetry & dysrhythmia management, cardiac & vasoactive drip titration, IV insulin & heparin protocols, blood product administration, tracheostomy management, wound care/wound vac, and non-invasive airway management (CPAP/BIPAP, oxygen)
  • Rapid Response Team utilization experience
  • Renal failure management experience
  • Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a Manager/Director or Supervisor; Charge RN acceptable for second reference; no coworker references accepted

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care in a fast-paced ER Holding setting managing complex patient conditions
  • Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting as soon as the contract is signed due to strict credentialing timelines
  • Candidates located far from Ohio will be mailed a fingerprinting packet to complete urgently upon receipt
  • Local candidates are accepted at the same pay rate
  • RTO must be submitted with the initial application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
  • Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment once they have been away from the facility for 6 months or more
  • Current employees of any Ohio State University hospital location are ineligible to be hired as a traveler
  • Prior travel experience is not required, making this role open to first-time travelers
  • Teaching hospital, community hospital, LTAC, and Trauma Level I/II experience are preferred but not required
