Job Title: Endoscopy/Gastrointestinal Technician Profession: Allied Health Specialty: Endoscopy/Gastrointestinal Technician Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 5x8 Hours per Shift: 8 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years required, travel experience required License: None required, High-Level Disinfection (HLD) certification highly encouraged Certifications: None required Must-Have: - Travel experience - Minimum 2 years of experience Description: Apply principles of aseptic technique theories to equipment preparation and maintenance when assisting with procedures. Identify any potential compromise to sterile/high-level disinfectant integrity of items throughout the procedure. Disassemble, identify defective or malfunctioning parts, and provide preventive maintenance for all supplies and equipment. Perform all pre-cleaning requirements per regulatory standards for all endoscopes, including inspection, leak testing, cleaning, high-level disinfecting, and identifying needed repairs. Follow established protocols for reprocessing endoscopes and accessories and for storing equipment. Based on material and/or manufacturer's instructions, determine methods of high-level disinfection mode for products. Check and calibrate equipment according to equipment protocol. Perform ambulatory technician duties as assigned, such as obtaining and documenting vital signs and transporting patients.
