Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position at a Level I Trauma Center requiring telemetry interpretation skills and a Massachusetts RN license.

Details

  • Work in the Emergency Department of a Level I Trauma Center
  • Patient population includes trauma, cardiac, and behavioral health/psych ED cases
  • Night shift schedule (3x12 hours), 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
  • Union facility with no special scheduling accommodations; must be able to work all 7 days
  • EPIC EMR experience preferred
  • Shift start time may occasionally flex up to 4 hours earlier or later based on urgent staffing needs

Requirements

  • Active Massachusetts RN license in hand required
  • Minimum of 18 months of RN experience required; 2+ years preferred
  • Level I Trauma Center experience required
  • Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS
  • Preferred certifications: NIHSS, TNCC
  • Must be able to read and interpret telemetry, including recognition and management of dysrhythmias
  • Skilled in respiratory care and care of ventilated patients
  • Cardiac monitoring and emergency response skills required
  • Triage skills preferred
  • Two professional references required, with at least one from a Nurse Manager or higher

Additional Information

  • Provide emergency nursing care including triage, cardiac monitoring, and management of ventilated and dysrhythmia patients
  • Complete pass/fail medication and telemetry exams during orientation, each with only one attempt; failure to pass either exam will result in contract cancellation
  • Study materials provided during compliance process and facility document intake (FDIs) to help prepare for required exams
  • RNs working in Mother Baby/Postpartum, Ambulatory, OR, SACU, and Psych units are exempt from the telemetry testing requirement
  • Complete required training modules pre-start and during orientation, with additional annual modules
  • Holiday coverage requires inclusion of one major winter holiday (Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year) in RTO
  • Priority given to candidates with minimal RTO requests and those available for 26-week contracts
  • Up to 14 days of RTO may be submitted for review, with no RTO allowed during the first week of the assignment
  • Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate within a 200-mile radius
  • Candidates must have a 12-month separation from the health system if previously employed there
  • First-time travelers are not preferred for this position
