Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring 2 years of ED experience and a WI or compact RN license.

Details

  • Level IV Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center with 69 total beds
  • 12-bed Emergency Department including triage, frequently utilizing hallway beds
  • Patient population ranges from neonates to geriatrics, with the majority being adults presenting various illnesses
  • Patient ratios of 1:5, occasionally up to 1:6 based on acuity
  • 12-hour night shift schedule (1900-0730) at 36 hours per week
  • Night shift staffing includes 5 RNs and 1 paramedic until 2300, dropping to 4 RNs and 1 paramedic until 0100, then 3 RNs and 1 paramedic from 0100-0700
  • CNA support at a 1:12 ratio, with no titled Charge RN but a Lead RN serving as a resource
  • In-house Respiratory Therapy and Hospitalist coverage available 24/7
  • ED RNs perform bedside phlebotomy as there is no dedicated phlebotomy team
  • Bedside and nursing station telemetry monitoring without a dedicated tele tech
  • Uses Epic EMR, GE monitors, Alaris pumps, and Pyxis medication system
  • No floating required
  • Weekend rotation required every other weekend
  • No on-call or call-back requirements
  • Holiday coverage varies based on unit need

Requirements

  • Active RN license (WI state or compact) required
  • Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, TNCC, PALS, and de-escalation training (MOAB or CPI)
  • Minimum 2 years of core ED experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
  • General ED skillset required including chest tubes, drips, IV starts, phlebotomy, EKGs, and cardiac rhythm interpretation
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

  • Provide emergency care to a diverse patient population ranging from neonates to geriatrics
  • One shift of on-unit orientation provided to learn department flow
  • Scrubs of any color are acceptable
  • Free onsite parking is provided
  • PTO requests can typically be approved, with consideration given to departmental staffing needs
  • First-time travelers considered upon review
  • No radius restrictions and local candidates accepted at the same rate
  • Former employees of the health system or its subsidiaries must be separated for at least 12 months before becoming eligible for a travel assignment
  • Candidates should be prepared to provide date of birth and last 4 digits of SSN for consideration
