Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position at a Level I Trauma Center in Worcester, MA, requiring a permanent MA RN license and a minimum of 18 months of ED experience.

Details

  • Work setting is a Level I Trauma Center and academic teaching hospital
  • Emergency Department (ED) unit
  • Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, with a standard start time of 7:00 PM (flexibility of up to four hours before or after start time is possible, but only in rare cases of urgent staffing need)
  • Telemetry monitoring is required in this role
  • Epic EMR experience is preferred
  • Contract length options of 13 or 26 weeks available
  • Schedule options of 36 or 48 hours per week available
  • Must be available to work any day of the week — no special scheduling accommodations can be made

Requirements

  • Active, permanent MA RN license currently in hand is required
  • Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and PALS; NIHSS and TNCC are preferred
  • Minimum of 18 months of ED experience required; 2+ years preferred
  • Level I Trauma Center experience is required — strong candidates without this experience may not be considered
  • Ability to read and interpret telemetry/cardiac rhythms and manage dysrhythmias
  • Skills in triage, care of ventilated patients, cardiac monitoring, and emergency response required
  • Psych/behavioral health ED experience is a plus
  • Two professional references required, with at least one from a Nurse Manager or higher
  • Candidates must have a clean nursing license with no prior disciplinary actions

Additional Information

  • Must pass two pass/fail exams during orientation — a telemetry/EKG exam (80% passing score) and a medication exam — each with only one attempt; failure of either exam results in immediate contract cancellation
  • Study materials are provided during the compliance process and facility-designated instructional sessions (FDIs) to help prepare for orientation exams
  • Pre-start online modules are required (approximately 1–2 hours) and are completed prior to the start date
  • Candidates who have previously worked within this health system must have at least a 12-month separation before being eligible
  • Up to 14 days of RTO may be requested for review; no RTO is permitted during the first week of the assignment
  • One major winter holiday (Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year's Day) may be included in RTO requests; priority given to candidates with minimal RTO and 26-week contracts
  • Local candidates are accepted; RNs must reside more than 200 miles from the facility to qualify for travel rates
