Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Director of Nursing (DON) for a 9-week contract assignment in Parkersburg, West Virginia. The DON will oversee nursing operations, clinical staff management, and patient care services within a skilled nursing and long-term care environment.
This leadership role requires strong clinical expertise, operational oversight, staff development skills, and the ability to maintain compliance with healthcare regulations and facility standards while promoting high-quality patient care outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee daily nursing department operations and clinical care delivery
Supervise, mentor, and support nursing staff and interdisciplinary healthcare teams
Ensure compliance with state, federal, and facility regulations and policies
Monitor patient care quality and implement performance improvement initiatives
Coordinate staffing schedules and support efficient clinical operations
Collaborate with physicians, administrators, and healthcare teams to optimize patient outcomes
Maintain accurate clinical documentation and regulatory compliance standards
Assist with staff education, onboarding, and competency evaluations
Promote patient safety, infection control, and quality assurance initiatives
Support resident and family communication regarding care plans and services
Requirements
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license required
Previous Director of Nursing or nursing leadership experience preferred
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Experience in skilled nursing or long-term care settings preferred
Knowledge of regulatory compliance, patient care standards, and clinical operations
Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or required by facility standards
Ability to manage clinical teams effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment
Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
