Job Title: Clinical Technician, Dialysis Profession: Clinical Technician Specialty: - Duration: 13-week contract with potential to convert based on performance and availability Shift: 4:30 AM - 2:30 PM or 10:00 AM - 7:30 PM Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: Minimum 2 years of clinical Dialysis Technician experience License: Current dialysis clinical technician licensure required Certifications: Dialysis clinical technician certification required Must-Have: High School Diploma or GED equivalent Experience with time record system and Fresenius machines preferred Commitment to teamwork, flexibility, and initiative Ability to communicate effectively and relate well to patients and team members Description: Under supervision of nursing staff, the Clinical Technician is responsible for the monitoring and direct care of patients on hemodialysis. Monitors patients on an ongoing basis and communicates information to appropriate team members. Works as part of a multidisciplinary team caring for dialysis patients. Responds in emergency situations. Reinforces education to patients. Documents patient care and observations, including flow sheets and incident reports. Follows operational activities specific to assigned unit. Treats patients and families with respect and dignity. Reports to work in designated attire, maintaining proper hygiene. Communicates with other departments, agencies, or service organizations. Demonstrates the ability to plan work activities effectively. Carries out doctors' orders within the parameters of the role. Follows infection control policies and procedures. Helps minimize waste in the assigned unit. In conjunction with team members, monitors and adjusts dialysis therapy within the scope of practice. Serves as a resource referral for patients. Demonstrates problem-solving methodologies for the benefit of patients and the patient care area. Maintains a neat and safe work area. Demonstrates technical and task-oriented skills, such as cannulation and machine set-ups. Under the delegation of the Medical Director and under nursing supervision, administers normal saline solution and anticoagulants as prescribed. Performs blood drawing procedures as necessary. May be required to take on-call in acute settings. Stands and walks most of the time on duty. Lifts and pushes patients on stretchers and in wheelchairs. Lifts and carries solution containers. May be subject to hazardous wastes and materials. Demonstrates willingness and ability to work effectively in a complex and changing environment. Communicates effectively with supervisors and team members. Acts in a manner that demonstrates commitment to organizational values and goals. Adheres rigorously to all infection control requirements and policies. Behaves in a manner designed to contribute to a clean and compliant environment.
