Job Summary:
The Operating Room Open Heart (OR OH) Nurse is based in Madison, Wisconsin. This role involves working within a Tier 2 cardiac specialty, supporting complex cardiovascular surgeries such as ECMO, CABG, LVAD, thoracic procedures, lobectomy, mitral valve repairs, VATS, and lung resections. The position requires collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to ensure efficient patient care and surgical outcomes in a high-caliber, Level I or similar size hospital setting.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Day/Evening, 12-hour shifts, starting on 08/10/2026, with a minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Valid WI RN license or compact RN license, two years of recent acute care experience within the last three years in an inpatient setting, BLS certification from the American Heart Association, experience supporting high complexity cardiothoracic surgery, and familiarity with Epic electronic charting system
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience in Level I trauma or similar large hospital, prior working in high-acuity areas such as cardiac or thoracic surgery, and experience with complex surgical procedures listed in skills
- Float: Float rotation may be required as needed
- Additional Information: The assignment involves working with a multidisciplinary team in a magnet-designated facility ranked as Wisconsin's #1 hospital. The role includes supporting complex surgeries, handling patient care for adolescents, adults, and geriatrics, and adhering to strict pass/fail telemetry testing requirements. Candidates must meet minimum experience and procedural skill requirements and be prepared for telemetric exam assessments prior to start.
