Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiothoracic ICU position requiring a MA RN license, Epic proficiency, and hands-on mechanical circulatory support experience.
Details
- Night shift position, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:00)
- Cardiothoracic ICU setting within an academic medical center in Worcester, MA
- Patient population includes cardiac surgery, vascular surgery, cardiac medicine, advanced heart failure, and mechanical circulatory support (IABP, Impella, ECMO, durable VAD)
- Every other weekend and holiday coverage required
- Floating to other adult ICUs required as needed
- Epic EMR experience required
- Scheduling is based on unit needs; no block schedules can be accommodated
- Contracts of 13, 20, or 26 weeks are accepted
Requirements
- Active MA RN license required; conditional MA license accepted if the candidate is actively working toward a permanent license
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2.5 years of ICU experience required
- Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) experience required
- Experience with mechanical circulatory support (IABP, Impella, ECMO, VAD) required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Must reside more than 200 miles from the facility to qualify for the travel pay rate; local candidates within that radius are also accepted
- Two professional references required for consideration, one of which must be from a Nurse Manager or higher
- Candidates with prior disciplinary actions on their nursing license are not eligible for this position
Additional Information
- Skills expected for this role include arterial line management, central line care, PICC line management, CVVHD/CRRT, ventilator management, ECMO management, epicardial pacing wire care, pulmonary artery/Swan-Ganz monitoring, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, and management of multisystem organ dysfunction
- RNs must pass a pass/fail telemetry test and a pass/fail medication exam during orientation; each is given one attempt, and failure results in assignment cancellation
- Candidates who have previously worked for this health system must have a 12-month separation before being eligible
- Up to 3–5 days of RTO is preferred; no RTO is permitted during the first week of the assignment
