Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a CVICU position requiring 2 years of current CVICU experience and expertise with devices like Impella, IABP, or CRRT.

Details

  • Work in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) of a hospital setting
  • Patient population includes fresh open heart cases, ventilated patients, chest tubes, lumbar drains, and chronic/acute renal failure patients
  • Patient ratio typically 1:1-2, with ratios varying based on acuity when floated
  • 13-week assignment on night shift (3x12 hours, 19:00-7:30)
  • Required to work every other weekend and applicable holidays
  • Floating required to all ICUs, PACU, ED (for ICU holding patients), and all IMC units
  • Epic EMR used, experience preferred

Requirements

  • Active NJ or Compact RN license required
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Stroke CEUs preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of current CVICU experience required; SICU experience considered with initial CVICU training
  • Experience with Impella, IABP, or CRRT (Prismax) required, or experience with fresh heart cases
  • Required skills include Post Op Open Heart Recovery, Swan-Ganz, Flotrac, Temp Pacers, A-lines, and Chest Tube management
  • Experience with fresh open heart cases such as CABG, MVR, AVR, and TAVR required
  • Previous charge nurse experience preferred
  • Epic charting experience preferred
  • Two current references required for consideration
  • Copy of certifications required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care nursing to post-cardiac surgery and complex ICU patients
  • Manage titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, continuous IV sedation, and neuromuscular blockade
  • Perform arterial blood gas interpretation, ventilator management, and dysrhythmia recognition/management
  • Support patients with multisystem organ dysfunction and renal replacement therapy (CVVHD/CRRT)
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply

  • Previous RWJBH staff (full-time or PRN) must have been separated from the health system for at least 1 year before being eligible for this travel assignment
  • Requested time off must be submitted and approved prior to receiving an offer; changes cannot be accommodated once onsite
  • Must be available to work 2 of 3 major holidays unless otherwise specified
