Job Title: CT Technologist Profession: CT Tech Specialty: Radiology CT Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum years of experience required License: IEMA Radiography License; Radiography (R)(ARRT) or Nuclear Medicine Tech Certification (NMTCB); Computed Tomography (CT)(ARRT) Certifications: BLS (American Heart Association) Must-Have: - Radiology expertise - Patient safety - Independent judgment - Technical procedures - Patient flow coordination Description: The CT Technologist performs computerized axial tomography procedures utilizing various imaging equipment and contrast material. Prepares and administers contrast material based on policies and procedures. Essential functions include performing computerized axial tomography procedures and assigned invasive procedures. This involves acquiring and processing patient exams in accordance with accrediting bodies and manufacturer guidelines. The technologist will perform multiplanar reformats and 3D rendered images independently. Reviews cases with the radiologist as appropriate. Assesses labs and patient history to ensure the correct exam is performed. Administers IV contrast and oral or rectal contrast when applicable. Recognizes and responds to any adverse or allergic reactions. Screens patients for pregnancy and conducts pregnancy testing if necessary. Ensures patient, visitor, and environmental safety. Reports safety events immediately, including near misses. Assists in the instruction of students and new staff as needed. May perform duties of CT Lead or Imaging Coordinator in their absence. Meets productivity levels as established by department benchmarking. Assists other areas during downtimes to maintain productivity. May perform duties across other modalities within the department as licensures allow. Complies with other job descriptions of cross-trained modalities performed within the department. Required secondary registries are not necessary for cross-trained modalities unless specified by compliance, licensure, or accrediting bodies.
