Job Title: CT Technologist Profession: Medical Imaging Specialty: CT Technology Duration: 14 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 0 years, preferred 1-3 years License: Associate's Degree Certifications: - ARRT - CT - BLS (Basic Life Support) Must-Have: - Graduate of an accredited Radiography program - ARRT registration upon hire - One year of relevant experience required Description: Under general supervision, performs diagnostic CT exams utilizing appropriate imaging equipment. Demonstrates good clinical skills to provide the best possible images for interpretation while applying ALARA principles of radiation protection. Follows the philosophy of Patient and Family Centered Care at all times. Verifies patient identification and physician orders. Provides procedural information and education to patients and families prior to each exam. Acquires accurate patient history and documents it in the medical record. Performs CT and related patient care procedures using age-appropriate methods for the patient's physical ability or limitations. Places IVs as required for injection of contrast media. Proficiently operates CT imaging equipment and performs necessary quality control and quality assurance testing. Monitors patients during procedures to ensure safety. Ensures STAT requests are relayed to the radiologist in a timely manner. Ensures equipment is wiped down between patients, and the exam room is clean and properly stocked with linen and supplies. Accurately uses hospital computer systems for verifying orders, viewing schedules, and sending information to PACS. Communicates effectively within departments and collaborates with medical staff, management, technical, and support staff. Physical Demands: Occasionally lifts up to 35 lbs. Seldom lifts above 10 lbs. Frequently stands and walks. Occasionally requires hand dexterity. Visual acuity is required. Color vision may be necessary.
